The IPL begins this weekend and we let you know who’s headed where and who to keep an eye on.
Stars to watch in the IPL
Current Stars
Glenn Maxwell (Punjab Kings)
Glenn Maxwell was selected by Australian legend and new Punjab Coach Ricky Ponting. It will be his third contract at the club after stints in 2014 and 2020. Maxwell will be looking to return to the form that saw his stars rise when he was player of the tournament in 2014 after a lean season with RCB last year. His form with the Stars this summer was unmatched, and he will be hoping to continue that momentum in Punjab.
Marcus Stoinis (Punjab Kings)
The Stars captain joins Maxwell under the guidance of Ricky Ponting. Stoinis comes from Lucknow where he spent the last three seasons and was one of their more dominant players last year. Now with a sole focus on T20 cricket, having retired from the longer formats of the game, Stoinis will be looking to make an impact in his first season with Punjab. He has previously enjoyed stints at RCB, Delhi and Lucknow.
Former Stars
Trent Boult (Mumbai Indians)
After a long time with the Rajasthan Royals, Boult moves to Mumbai after the Super Draft last year.
Andre Russell (Kolkata Knight Riders)
Russell has played 127 IPL matches and remains one of KKR’s most valuable players. He has proven himself time and time again around the world.
Nicholas Pooran (Lucknow Super Giants)
Pooran had a solid 2024 IPL, making 499 runs and this will be his third season at the club.
