The Melbourne Stars have named a 12 player squad for Wednesday's Indigenous matches to be played against the Melbourne Renegades at the CitiPower Centre.
Stars Indigenous Squad Announced
The Stars Indigenous team will play two matches against the Renegades Indigenous team on Wednesday.
Wade King has been named captain and Jamie Jewiss will once again coach the side.
"It's an honour to take the reigns again and I'm really looking forward to welcoming a few new faces to the side this year," said Jewiss.
"We've formed some really good connections over the past few years since we first competed together as a team and each year we look to build on those connections and experiences.
"Cricket is such a great vehicle for these young men to learn more about culture and their identity and we're looking forward to taking on the Renegades on Wednesday."
Both games will be broadcast via Frogbox.
The Melbourne Stars Indigenous team will wear the playing kit designed by Taungurung woman, Sammy Trist. The details of the design can be found below.
The Southern Cross around the Stars logo represents the Southeastern sky. Below the chest, the leaves on the design represent the players, who are all on the same journey as a team, connected through strength, no matter the result of the game. Water is representative of the Yarra River and the bay, whilst below, people represent the club as a family and players as role models for children.
