Stars unsuccessful in Adelaide

The Melbourne Stars fell 15 runs short against the Adelaide Strikers at the Adelaide Oval.

Glenn Maxwell and Ben Duckett played their first matches for the Stars this season and immediately provided highlights.

Duckett took a spectacular one-handed grab in the field while Maxwell hit two switch hits for boundaries in just his second and third balls faced.

Fast bowlers Adam Milne and Peter Siddle both took two wickets each with the Strikers being sent in to bat first after Marcus Stoinis won the bat-flip and posted a total of 6-165.

Wicketkeeper Sam Harper moved up to the open the batting for the first time this season and was the Stars' highest run scorer with 48 from 44 deliveries.

The Strikers were able to take regular wickets and restricted Melbourne to 9-150.

The Melbourne Stars now return to Melbourne before heading to Sydney for their next clash to face the Sixers on Boxing Day at the SCG.
