The Melbourne Stars recorded a six-wicket loss to the Perth Scorchers in the opening match of BBL|14.
Tough night in Perth to open BBL|14
Hilton Cartwright was taken to hospital for scans on his neck after an incident whilst fielding. An update will be provided by the Stars once further information is at hand.
Despite the result, two milestones were brought up for Stars players. Marcus Stoinis hit his 100th six in the BBL, whilst Peter Siddle took his 100th BBL wicket which was also his first wicket in green and his first match for the Stars.

After a slow start and the loss of some early wickets Stoinis came to the crease and equal top-scored for the Stars with 37 runs in his first game as full-time captain.
Tom Curran also fired with the bat on Stars debut, hitting a rapid 37 from 19 including three sixes.
Adam Milne was hit for six on the first ball of the Scorchers' innings but struck back taking out middle stump next ball. Brody Couch and Curran also picked up a wicket each, but it wasn't enough to stop the momentum of Perth who were able to chase down the total in the 18th over.
The Melbourne Stars now return home for their first match at the MCG of BBL|14 against the Heat on Wednesday night.
