The Melbourne Stars recorded a six-wicket loss in the first game of back-to-back matches at Drummoyne Oval in Sydney.
Stars unable to match Heat in Sydney
After a 31 run opening partnership, the Stars struggled to find momentum losing regular wickets.
A strong fightback from the tail end saw Melbourne post a total of 138, Kim Garth led the charge with 31* from just 20 balls including three fours and a six.
Garth, Flintoff and Sutherland all picked up wickets alongside a strong run out from Rhys McKenna, however it wasn't enough to slow Brisbane down, with the Heat chasing down the total with 15 balls remaining.
