Melbourne Stars young gun Ines McKeon scored a half-century on debut however the Scorchers were able to defend their total in Perth.
Stars fall short in Game 1
Both teams lost wickets regularly, with 18 wickets falling in the match. The Scorchers were able to halt the Stars’ momentum in the middle overs resulting in a 13-run win for Perth.
Marizanne Kapp took a wicket on debut for the Stars and was unlucky to be run out off a deflection, while Maisy Gibson also bowled two overs in her Stars debut.
In a stunning first WBBL appearance, 17-year-old Ines McKeon held strong and was the match’s highest run-scorer with 50 from 43 deliveries.
McKeon made her intentions clear from the start hitting her second ball faced for six and ended the match with seven boundaries.
Sophie Day continued her impressive form from last season, the WBBL|09 golden arm took 3- including two wickets in her first over.
