The experienced wicket-keeper and Renegades second-leading run scorer from last season has joined the Stars via a trade.
Sam Harper comes full circle
The Melbourne Stars have traded leg spinner Adam Zampa to the Renegades in return for experienced Victorian wicketkeeper, Sam Harper.
Harper returns to the Stars after having made his debut for the club in BBL|06.
The 26-year-old is coming off one of his strongest BBL seasons, having scored 264 runs at an impressive strike rate of 141.87.
"We would like to thank Adam for his time at the Stars and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours," said General Manager Blair Crouch.
"We're thrilled to be able to secure the services of Sam, who is an outstanding person and we're looking forward to seeing him behind the stumps in BBL|13.
"Last year Sam also showed he is a more than capable with the bat and was the Renegades second highest run scorer behind Aaron Finch.
"This trade has allowed the club to sign a number of quality players, as we saw with Scott Boland last week and we're looking forward to announcing more of those signings in the coming weeks."
Harper said he couldn't turn down more opportunities to play in front of big crowds at the MCG this summer.
"I'd like to thank the Renegades for the past 5 seasons, but it feels like I've come full circle having made my BBL debut for the Stars.
"I can't wait for BBL|13 and have penciled in the derby on the calendar already!"
Zampa departs the club after 8 seasons with the Stars, where he took 98 wickets and was named BBL|10 player of the season.
