Summary

Sent into bat first under the roof, when Lukey Wright was sent on his way in only the second over by a ball off the newly returned James Pattinson, we have to admit that we had a bit of nervousness creep in…But with Bobby and KP at the crease, we should have known our boys in green would get the job done!

In his first game back, Bobby made an impressive 51 off just 30 balls including six fours and three sixes. KP also smashed it – he made 73 off 46 balls with seven boundaries and three sixes. This outstanding partnership helped take our boys to an unbelievable total of 200, our highest score of the season.

Maxi and the Hussler also had good knocks with the bat tonight, making 24 and 27 respectively. The Huss was in particularly fine form making his 27 off just 11 balls. Yep you ready that correctly!

So with a big total to chase for the win, the Renegades needed to get themselves off to a good start to keep them in contention. Lucky for us Stars fans it only took until the fourth over for our breakthrough with Bolo snagging BOTH Narine AND Finch in the same over! How good!

Zamps and Beery were tremendous with the ball tonight, snagging three wickets each. Zamps, having a pretty good day with his multiple wickets and selection in the Aussie ODI team, finished with figures of 3-19, while Beery finished with 3-32 off his four overs.

With a late wicket to Hilfy, the Renegades finished their batting innings with a score of 154, with our massive total just proving too big for our red rivals.

The Moment

We were treated to some of the vintage Hussler tonight – he started his batting innings with three fours and a six! Absolutely magnificent to watch, we were reminded just why Huss is one of the best T20 players to play the game. We knew Huss had been in pretty good touch lately but this was just something else!

The Player

How could we go past KP for this one?! Giving us an absolute masterclass with the bat, KP led the way in making sure that our boys gave themselves the best chance of getting a win tonight with a knock of 73 off 46 balls. After a six off his very first ball, we knew we were going to get something special from KP tonight and boy were we right. Hitting seven fours and three sixes in his innings, KP had his best game in green tonight that he’s had for the season and we cannot wait to see what he produces in our double-header on Tuesday!

The Next Game

Well it’s another big game for our boys on Tuesday – we take on the Strikers in a double-header match at the MCG. With the girls kicking things off at 3.05pm, the boys then get their turn at 7.10pm so you do NOT want to miss this massive day of cricket. We’ll see you there #TeamGreen!
